
The Insured company was instructed by the main contractor to design, supply and construct a timber frame for a new primary school.
However due to the structural failure of the school’s floor/ceilings after this work had been completed the school had to be closed with a number of remedial works being required together with associated costs.
The school was closed with a number of remedial works and associated costs occurring, as a result of the claim concerned with .
The cause was originally considered to be the failure of the glue that was used, instead of the Insured’s specification. However, after new evidence was disclosed, the claim was amended to include design defects.
As a result the PI Cover was invoked and the claim was settled at £110,000, with costs of £15,000, protecting the company.
