To ensure we can provide you with the right Professional Indemnity Cover at the best premium you need to provide us with some basic information.

This includes;

  • Limit of indemnity and policy excess (if you’re not sure, then Hensure are insurance professionals who can discuss your requirements and assist you to make a decision).
  • Total annual turnover and number of people providing advice on behalf of you and your business. We may ask for further details such as qualification, experience or membership of trade organizations depending on your occupation. Certain professions have governing bodies with set qualifications (i.e. Surveyors & the RICS, Accountants and the ICA or ACCA).
  • Details of your business and what you do. (This is vital to ensure the right coverage is put in place and includes the type of advice you give or any products or services you may provide). Hensure provide cover for over 450 different professions and so we should be able to assist with your requirements.
  • Where and who do you work for. You need to advise us of any work for overseas companies or any companies in high risk locations or industries such as aviation, rail, oil and gas.
  • Any previous claims or incidences where claims could have occurred.

How much Professional Indemnity cover do I need?

There is no set limit that fits everyone as every business is different as are the risks that they face.

Please speak to our advisors who can discuss your business and guide you on your decision but if we were to offer one simple piece of advice it would be always to buy as much professional indemnity cover as you can reasonably afford.

In many instances your client will set a minimum limit of the indemnity they insist on or a particular contract will have a set requirement. This can depend on the specific nature of the contract or what you’ve been asked to do, or they could have a set limit for all their product and service providers.

What about cover for work I have previously done?

It’s important to consider arranging retroactive cover for work that you’ve completed before the policy starts. Please make sure that when completing the online proposal that you provide the correct retroactive date in order to make sure that your past work is covered.
